Description

Common Buckeye - Junonia coenia
I chased this guy around in a small clearing where there were two others along with several Cabbage Whites and some Skippers. They were feeding on Goldenrod, Ragweed and Thistle. There are several slight variations in appearance among populations based mainly on what time if year they become mature.  As they do migrate every year most that are seen in northern areas have migrated from southern areas during the summertime.  The common buckeye was featured on the 2006 United States Postal Service 24-cent postage stamp.

They are said to be quite common where I live but I have only seen a very few.

THIS.
THIS IS SIMPLY GORGEOUS!
As soon as I saw it, I felt like you caught the butterfly by surprise; like, if it were a human, you would have caught them in the exact moment before they would spin around, tackle you, snatch the camera from your hand, and say, "That had better not hit online!" Thank goodness butterflies can't tackle humans. You've GOT to teach me how to get the viewer to have such a good view of the feel of the photo.
One thing that bugged me a little was the graininess of the background, it looks a bit like the quality of how a phone would take a photo. If you could just make it a bit less fuzzy, just a tiny bit sharper, it would be practically perfect!
Overall though: MAGNIFICENT!
You are such an AMAZING photographer! don't you dare ever ever forget it!
